A:- G.R.Gopinath was born on 13 November 1951 in the village of Gorur, in Karnataka.

A:- Gopinath’s father was a school teacher and a farmer.

A:- Gopinath received the Rolex Laureate Award for establishing an ecologically sustainable sericulture farm. He also received the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, the highest civilian award from the French government for his advancements in Air transport field.
4) What war was Gopinath involved in during his time in the Army?
A:- During his time as a captain in the Indian Army, Gopinath was involved in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
5) Who was happy to see Gopinath return from the army to his village?
A:-Gopinath’s mother was happy to see Gopinath return from the army to his village as by returning from the army he was out of danger to face death.

6) Give an account of Gopinath’s school experience.
A:- G.R.Gopinath is an entrepreneur and founder of the Indian Airlines Air Deccan. He is a retired captain of the Indian Army, an author, a politician. He is considered by many to a pioneer for providing low-cost air travel facility within India.
     Due to living in a village in Karnataka, Gopinath attended a Kannada-medium school till fifth standard. It was in his fifth standard that the school’s head master informed the students that there was an entrance examination going to be held in their school for joining in the Defense Forces. But unfortunately the exam paper was given in English as so all the students, including Gopinath failed in the exam. When this information came to the notice of headmaster, he wrote a stern letter to the Ministry of Defense in Delhi, by mentioning the flaws(mistakes) of the questions paper. With this, he was able to convince the Ministry to conduct the exam once again in Kannada medium. Gopinath including some of his classmates this time could able to appear in exam.

                   G.R.Gopinath’s headmaster was a well determined person to tackle the problems. As soon as he got the information of the entrance exam to join in Defence Force, which was given in English language, he wrote a stern letter to the Ministry of Defense in Delhi, by mentioning the flaws(mistakes) of the questions paper. His words apparently had the effect on the members of the Ministry of Defense, and eventually the Ministry conducted the exam in Kannada medium.
           Gopinath took the exam and passed with flying colors. He learnt an important lesson from his headmaster that one has to be proactive and try as hard as possible to influence things one’s way. It was a lesson, Gopinath would remember for the rest of his life.

                A.J.Sam was a pivotal figure in Gopinath’s life. He was a good friend of Gopinath in the army. After resigning from the army, he had taken a freelance job as a helicopter pilot. Gopinath, when he met A.J.Sam after many years, saw the value of helicopter pilot training and pictured how easy it was that helicopters could transport vehicles, men and materials easily from one place to another. Gopinath then decided to go into transport business. He, A.J.Sam and colonel Jayanth Poovaiah agreed to set up the business together. They settled on the company name Deccan Aviation.

                    Gopinath secured a deal with Royal Enfield motorcycles and was able to start a business called Malnad Mobikes, which supplied Enfield motorcycles. By establishing helicopter transport business, he could able to become a successful businessman. In 2003, he started Air Deccan, the low-cost air line. His air business later expanded and under the banner of LCC (Low Cost Carriers), developed into a major role in the air industry.

               After leaving the Indian army, he wanted to work as a farmer, purchased ten acres of land. He took to farming the barren land. It was a hard work and he applied several times for loan before getting success. He numerous times requested a bank manager with a loan application once, because the manager had rejected his request for loan. However, Gopinath’s grit and determination paid off. He could eventually get the loan from the bank and his farm prospered. In 1996 he received the Rolex Laureate Award, for establishing as ecologically sustainable sericulture farm.

       Once, while Gopinath was a fifth standard student, the headmaster informed the students that an entrance exam was going to be held in their school for preparatory  school for those wishing to later join in the Defence force. But the exam paper was given in English. The students failed the examination as they didn't know how to read, write or speak in English.
       As soon as he got this information, the headmaster wrote a stern letter to the Ministry of Defence in Delhi. He mentioned in it the mistakes of the question paper and was able to convince the Ministry to consider his views. His words apparently had the effect on the Ministry of Defence, eventually they conducted the exam in Kannada medium.
         Gopinath took the exam and passed with flying colors (with good results). He learnt an important lesson from his headmaster from this issue that one has to be proactive and should try as hard as possible to influence things one's way. It was a lesson, Gopinath would remember for the rest of his life.
